Will and John Moving Panels |
At the women’s gathering yesterday Raven mentioned that she needed 20 minutes of help moving some panels at her house so we stop by her house on our way into San Jose. She shares a driveway with Renny Yater, a long time Zacatitos resident and a renowned surfboard maker. Renny is up on a ladder painting his house and shows us the panels that Raven needs moved. The boys have them moved in 15 minutes and we head into San Jose for supplies spotting a large flock of Cara Cara along the way.

Cara Cara on the Ridge |
Our errands take longer than we want. The wait at the public court house is long so we decide to try another day and I am tempted to pop into a few opal shops. Will wants to buy a hat and instead of driving, we make the mistake of walking the half mile uphill to the local Mexican hat shop which requires the time to walk back. The walk is pleasant enough but we are are anxious to get back to Zacatitos and we still have water, the fishing tackle shop and supplies to buy. We go to Soriana instead of the Mega and Soriana is out of ice, they have no mushrooms and the avocados aren’t ripe; all small problems to deal with in paradise. John buys new bands for a disabled spear gun while Art has our water jugs filled near by. We have a late lunch at the Marina and while we wait for our lunch, Will and John walk over to the marina to inquire the prices for going deep sea fishing. It is $180 for the two of them including bait but they will need to buy their fishing licenses at the Mega store. We take the highway back to Zacatitos and the boys are on the beach by 4:00 P.M.

Sundowners before Cinema in the Sand |
|
Sundowners with Dr. Dave & Marshall |
Art has invited Dr. Dave to our house for sundowners and he arrives shortly after 5:00 P.M. Marshall makes his impromptu appearance and I serve the men strong margaritas. It is very windy and the men move the table to the front of our deck where it is much less windy, a precarious balancing act when loaded with drink glasses and bottles of liquor. Art has whipped up a simple pot of onions, a few vegetables, rice and beans and serves everyone heaping bowls of the stew before it’s time to leave for Cinema in the Sand. The Martian is playing tonight and since Art and I have seen the movie, John and Will, will drive on their own. Maha comes over later, we offer her a bowl of the bean stew and sit and visit in the light of the stars with a sliver of the moon hanging in the sky. Maha is 4 months pregnant with a girl to be named Tara, so we pour her a carrot juice; no sundowners for her and baby Tara.
